| The Science of Graphology | ||
![]() Graphology, handwriting analysis, is a science, based on imperical dataGraphology is based on the imperical data gathered over 130 years utilizing the scientific method. Graphology is the science of determining personality and characteristic traits by analyzing handwriting. But it should really be called "brainwriting", which is why graphology is categorized as a branch of psychology. Once we reach "graphic maturity" which is writing comfortably with speed without consciously thinking about individual letter formations, it is the "brain" and not the "hand" controling the writing. Our "unconscious" mind takes over the writing. Since we are all taught the same alphabet, both upper and lower case, how we deviate from this is the choice of the writer. These deviations are "chosen" by the "brain" without conscious thought as our hand zips across the paper. Therefore, it is the unconscious mind showing up in the handwriting. Our unconscious mind is our real personna, our personality. That's a simplistic way of briefly explaining how graphology works. |

![]() 300 personality traits can be identified through graphologyThere are over 300 personality traits which can be identfied from handwriting analysis, graphology. Imperically, graphology has been proven as 90% accurate while personality and Rorshach tests are only 63% accurate. The most common of these personality and character traits I am called on to determine are honesty, criminality, loyalty, reliability, hostility, self-esteem, intelligence, compatibility,
motivation levels, and suicidal tendencies.

![]() Personality traits are identified by "universal concepts"Now, that we understand the basic premise behind this science. Let me explain "universal concepts". Which is more important? Something big or something small. Which is happier? Someone who's up or someone who's down. Which is good? The left or the right. You can easily answer each question because we "universally" see these concepts the same way. Bigger is better and more important. Up is optimism, down is depression. Left is bad, right is good. All true. They are all in handwriting too, and this discloses the writer's personality and character. As example, a writer who constantly writes with a "downhill baseline" feels down. It's one trait for depression. A writer who writes her husband's name slightly larger than the rest of her writing tells me he's "important" to her because she "enlarged" him. Applying these simple "universal concepts" with the more complex ones gives the graphologist a depth of insight into the writer. Ever hear of the saying, "Boy, he always sets the bar high for himself". A person like that sounds like he likes challenges, and has high aspirations. True. Very true. Would you expect the bar crossing the letter "t" to be low on the stem or high? Now you're seeing how this works. |

![]() Graphologists utilize dominant traits, minor traits, and "clusters"There are major traits and minor ones. The major traits include connectors, size, proportions, slant, baseline, pressure, form level, spatial arrangements, margins, and speed of writing. They formulate the main aspects of the analysis. Notice, I didn't even include letter formations. Graphology applies to any written language. Minor traits include loops, cups, the stable axis, pastosity, pressure pattern, and individual letter traits. Clusters are series of handwriting traits that mean the same or similar personality trait. Usually, they corroborate each other. For instance, there are about seven or eight traits for dishonesty. When three or four are present, I'll determine the writer is dishonest. It's the cluster or the combination of these traits that prove the point. Sometimes clusters work in conflict with one another, and that leads to another type of determination. This isn't so surprising. People have conflicts, and conflicts will invariably
show up in their handwriting.

![]() There are several different speciality fields in graphologyGraphology can be further categorized by its micro fields; which concentrate on a specific application, such as employment, fraud and forgery, mental health, children, and personal and romantic relationships. Employment Graphology is one of the most common functions of graphology. We are able to determine the abilities of potential employees and executives. We can determine functional intelligence, potential intelligence, project and goal aspirations, leadership qualities, self motivation, and people skills; amongst the many other qualities and traits that handwriting reveals. Most of our clientele utilizing our employment graphology service ask us to determine the honesty, criminal tendencies, intelligence, motivation, and the reliability of the individual. These are just the general qualities that every potential employee should have. The most cost effective use of employment graphology is pinpointing highly productive, adaptable employees, and eliminating the most unproductive and unreliable candidates from your company. Comparison Graphology is used to compare two or more different individuals to determine how these people will interact with one another. This specialty field of graphology is used mostly for romantic couples and their compatibility. Criminal Graphology is one of my specialties that others aren't so skilled at. Why? I have an extensive chart of criminal traits. I used this chart in confirming that the handwritings of both Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac were the killers themselves, and not accomplices to the killers. Besides determining the level of criminality of the writer, I can often determine the nature of the criminal. Theifs, confidence artists, murderers all have different clusters [combination of graphology traits] that betray this. Criminal graphology is most useful in aiding the police profiling these various types of criminals. Polygraph Graphology is rare but important facet of handwriting analysis. This specialty sub-field is used in the exact same manner as a lie detector test; but with one major difference. There are no legal intanglements with graphology as with a polygraph test. The principles are exactly the same except for one major difference. No one can cheat on a handwriting test! Why not? Because they wouldn't know how to.
