Loops or the lack of loops are very telling in a person's handwriting and lead a graphologist to certain conclusions about their personality and character.

The loops I am talking about occur in the lower case letters b, l, k, h,d, and f; and in the bottom part of the j, g, p, q, f.and y. The first set of loops are those that occur by letter formation in the upper zone, and the second set of letters are loops that are present in the lower zone.

These different zones are discussed on another page, but suffice it to say that each zone represents a different aspect of life, so the loops in each of these zones relate to that particular area of life. The upper zone is the area of the higher self; housing our intellectual and spiritual drives. Loops here reflect those desires and feelings.

The height that these loops reach in relation to the other zones determine the division of the personality in gradient importance between biological, social [which is reflected in the middle zone] and the intellectual and spiritual arena of the upper zone.

Wide loops are indicative of a broadminded intellect, while narrow loops are less imaginative, and diverse. However, if the loops are too wide and excessive; then it leaves the realm of realism and borders on fantasy. It is respective of the elements in the rest of the writing sample.

In the lower zone, the loops reflect the area of biological, physical, and sexual drives. Materialism will also manifest itself here, as materialism in the mind of the writer is necessary for his or her biological needs; hence the connection with money and material wealth. This is where a trained and expert graphologist is needed to determine whether the loops in the lower zone are more related to sex, physical activity, or materialism. The other graphological traits give away the clues to the correct interpretation of the lower zone loops.

The rhythm or lack of it, in these loops betrays the comfort level or tension with that particular zone. Pointed and ill formed loops indicate such tension, while ease of rhythm and proper pressure pattern [discussed on another page] indicate a person who is comfortable and amiable with regard to the aspect of life that that particular zone clearly represents.

Some upper zone loops can have both a fine rhythm, and yet still be pointed. Usually with this type of loop the point is not overly sharp. If this is the case; then the writer is not anxious or tense about their intellect or spirituality. If this is the case; the writer may be described as sharp minded.

When a writing sample has no loops where loop formations are normal for the proper formation of the letter; two reasons are apparent. One, the upstroke is eliminated for ease, facility, and/or simplicity without loss of legibility. The other reason is that the loop has dissappeared with a covered stroke. [Covered strokes are where the stroke formation has retraced over a previous stroke]. Here, no loop is visible because the loop has been narrowed to a single stroke. Outside of the lower case "t" and "d"; which has a natural covering stroke; we have a person who is secretive and unrevealing of their intentions.

A trait stroke common with loops shows up in the lower case d. When the loop on this letter is wider than the loops on the other upper zone letters; then we have a writer who is sensitive to other people's comments. When the upper zone loop of the lower case "d" is slanted further to the right than is the rest of the writing; we have another famous trait stroke. This is called the maniacal "d". There are numerous examples of this trait in the famous San Franscisco serial murderer known as the Zodiac killer.

Physical ailments can often show up in handwriting. The three different zones of handwriting represent the different areas of the physical body. The upper zone corresponds to the head, and upper chest, the middle zone to the abdomen, the baseline to the genitals, buttocks and hips, and the lower zone will relate to the legs.

Loops with tremors, displaced pressure, dots, hitches, and malformed loops indicates physical ailments. These ailments could be from the past, and are manifested in the writing because the writer has not resolved the issues regarding the illness; or it could be in the present; or in the future. Our body can show our physical problems before the mind is consciously aware of any symptoms. We cannot tell whether the physical condition is past, present, or future; but we are obligated to disclose this for the benefit of the writer.

Tall loops show extra interest and desire in that aspect of life
Rhythmic loops suggest comfort and joy with that area of life
Loops in the upper zone of writing are concerned with intellect and spiritual concerns
Loops in the lower zone indicate sex, physical activity and materialism
Pointy loops show tension or discomfort with that area of life
Extra wide loops in the lower case "d" is indicative of sensitivity
Overly right slanted loops in the lower case "d" is the sign of the maniac
Thin and narrow loops show narrowness and/or lack of exploration in that area of life
Loops that are wide show a broad minded person
Loops that are narrow or covered indicate narrow mindedness
Loops that are overly wide betray daydreaming and fantasy
Loops that are heavily pressured show intensity for that aspect of life
Loops that are broken, have hitches, or tremors on them may divulge physical illnesses

Important Note: Remember this is just a very basic explanation of this particular aspect of handwriting. It is expressly for the purpose to show the validity by explaining this complex science in simplistic terms.

Do not attempt to analyze a person's handwriting with just the information stated above. Graphology is a hollistic science; one characteristic on its own is fairly meaningless unless an extreme or coroborated with other graphology traits.

Leave handwriting analysis to the experts like us. It takes years to be highly trained and skilled in this field, and to learn, study, and recognize all the graphological traits that incorporate this science.
